On his appropriately titled American Landscape, Dave Murphy is both a lonesome-voiced Troubadour who sings like a heart newly bruised by distance and longing and an astute observer and chronicler of the American condition. He narrates his tales with wit and brevity. On "Fading Taillights," Murphy plays the role of the lover choosing to jilt rather than be jilted. Murphy evokes the time and distance of the lost American highway and the poignant role it plays in every American songwriter's imagination. Half a lifetime of the travel, stories and portraits he has experienced finally has distilled into this lush and resonant collection titled American Landscape.
Ireland Solo Tour
Dave will be joined by NYC singer songwriter Paul Sachs and Irish song stylist Kerry Fearon for a 3-week tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland, UK with dates in Dublin, Westport, Dundalk, Donegal, Newry, Randalstown, Derry, Bangor, and Belfast.
The Tour will also include four-live radio appearances and one TV appearance at the RTE studios in Dublin.
A word of gratitude...
I'm so grateful for all the wonderful musicians (who over the years) have shared their talents and have supported me and my music either in the studio, on stage or both. I'm lucky enough to call many my friend...and unfortunately some are gone now. Though I can't nearly mention them all, here's a short list;
Steve Forbet, Marc Muller, Nicole Atkins, Ben Wisch, Chris Tarrow, Ron Baumann, Eric Braverman, Mark Liwin
Kevin Barry, Lucy Kaplansky, Plink Giglio, Jay Bellerose, Shawn Pelton, David Hamburger, David Henry, Rick Gedney, Cadence Carroll, John Christie, Abbie Gardner, Scott E Moore, Rich Tozzoli, Brian Sugent, Rebecca Rydell, Christina Abbott, Tina Vero, Mark Bull, Cam Bull, Ian Chamberlain, Claude Coleman, Paul Sachs & Robert K Wolf. Thank you all!
Two years after the release of American Landscape which was embraced by Americana and Folk radio across the US, American Landscape is now seeing a spike in airplay in the UK and Ireland. Stay tuned for November tour dates in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Thanks to all the on-air folks who've been playing my tunes. dm
Not so "new" anymore but meet my current band
Ron Baumann: bass & vocals
Chris Tarrow: guitar/pedal steel
Eric Braverman: drums/percussion
These guys (at one time or another) have all toured nationally and they're all veterans of the NYC music scene, plus they're just really good guys.
Now I still do solo gigs now and again but most often I'll be joined by Ron and/or Chris for the duo or trio thing and we bring Eric in when we do a full band show.
